India is a country where we have different cultures and traditions. Every state in India has its own culture and language. Because of this India is known as sub-continent.

Tourism in India is economically significant and is multiplying year by year. The main tourist attractions in India are Taj Mahal in Agra, Red Fort in Delhi, Beaches in Goa, Temples in India, festivals and many more…

Over 10 million foreign tourists arrived in India in 2017 compared to 8.89 million in 2016. With this stats, we can say that tourism in India is increasing year by year. In the year 2017 tourism generated nearly 16lakh crores of the nations GDP. India ranked 40th among 136 countries overall according to tourism and tourist satisfaction.

The main reason to worry due to the increase in tourism

1. Visitors produce thousand pounds of trash and waste each year. More than 30000 plastic bottles are dumped in Ladakh valley region each summer.

2. There is an estimation that over ten metric tonnes of wastes are collected on and around Mt.Everest. Waste is the main problem on the Himalayas.

Reasons for tourists to worry when they travel in India

1. India’s infrastructure is less when compared to developed countries as it is still a developing country, the tourist may face little problems while they travel in non-metropolitan areas in India.

2. India being a rapid economically growing nation with lots of poverty. Beggers are the main problem for tourists traveling around India. They present everywhere including essential monuments, railway stations, religious and spiritual sites, and shopping malls.

3. Sanitation and Hygiene is the main problem for foreign tourists. Most of our cities are highly crowded and keeping clean and hygiene is highly impossible.

4. In India, the main problem tourists face is being robbed. Thieves in India wait for the right opportunity to steal the foreigners whatever they have with them while traveling.

So we Indians should take some measures to tackle this problem with unity. Government has been supporting to clean India with many cleaning programs.
