International Dance Day Theme 2018 – World Dance Day 29th April
Every year, since its formation in 1982, an outstanding dance personality is selected to write a message for International Dance Day. ITI also make a flagship event in a selected host city, at which there are dance performances, educational workshops, charitable projects and speeches made by ambassadors, dignitaries, dance personalities and the selected Message Author for that year .The day is a celebration day for those who can see the value and importance of the art form dance, and acts as a wake-up-call for governments, politicians and institutions which have not yet acknowledged its value to the people.
International Dance Day is a global celebration of dance, created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO. The event takes place every year on 29th April, the anniversary of the birth of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), the creator of modern ballet. The day strives to encourage participation and education in dance through events and festivals held on the date all over the world. UNESCO formally recognize ITI to be the creators and organizers of the event.
International dance day:
To help publicize International Dance Day each year the International Theatre Institute chooses an outstanding personality from the world of dance to be the Message Author for the event. In the message, it is hoped that the author can underline the significance and power of dance. Past authors have included Trisha Brown, Alicia Alonso, and Merce Cunningham. As 2018 marked the 70th Anniversary of ITI, 5 Message Authors were selected for the 2018 event, one from each of the 5 UNESCO Regions. The 5 authors were; Georgette GEBARA (Lebanon, Arab Countries), Salia SANOU (Burkina Faso, Africa), Marianela BOAN (Cuba, The Americas), Willy TSAO (China, Asia-Pacific) and Ohad NAHARIN (Israel, Europe).

Some great personality told a deep thing about dance, “Dance is the hidden language of the soul of your body”. Dance is a language which has no meaning and no grammar but is full of emotions, feelings that are hidden inside the soul of the individual. It is the medium of communication through which you can prompt your feelings to the other people. It includes rhythmic body movements which have some value and symbol to express the feelings. There are numerous dance forms performed for various resolutions. Dance have so many different categories.
It has been an vital part of humans life throughout the history. It can be categorized and designated by its choreography, place of origin or historical period. In Indian culture, every state has its own dance form. Maharashtra is known for Lawani, Tamil Nadu is known for Baratanatyam, Kerala is known for Kathakali etc. 29th April is known for international dance day. This event celebrates the joy of dancing. Here, we are going to give some basic information about International dance day.
Theme of International dance day 2018:
We are existing in the 21st century and you can see the unbelievable change in the people, in their lifestyle. Now music and dance receive a huge response and it has created a desire in everybody’s mind. Dance is not just an option to make a career but it became a passion, it became a hobby. Despite gender or age, I must say everyone here loves to dance it just that some of us care about how will I look if dance, some doesn’t care about someone they just want express their state of mind, feelings through the body movement no matter how it looks. Dance has that spark that can change your mood from sad to joyful, annoyed to peaceful.
Whatever movement you do with your body it develops a dance so it’s not necessary that to become a dancer you should have to be expert in that. If you are happy you can dance it gives you pleasure and more happiness if you are sad dance will help you to forget your sorrows, reduce your tension and stress and will help you to build stronger. Dance is impulsive, pleasure-seeking no matter how it looks, it expresses something in energy but doesn’t care what.
Dance, sometimes is a therapy to a spiritual health just like mental health, the dance will be very advantageous to your physical health also as dancing can lower the chances for heart and blood vessels diseases. It helps to reduce weight and maintain a good body posture. It has the capability to improve brain function because of the constant presence of music.
