The Indian Premier League with multi-million dollar auctions, the glamorous cheer girls, the electric atmosphere in the stadium during the matches and the star-studded celebrity attendance it is a sporting spectacle in India.

After its awesome success and commercial business, Pakistan came out with its own version of IPL in Pakistan Super League. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is a professional franchise Twenty20 men’s cricket league. The league is headquartered in Lahore and as of 2017 consists of five franchises nominally representing cities in Pakistan. It is operated by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and was established in 2016.

Instead of operating as an association of independently owned teams, the league is a single entity in which each franchise is owned and controlled by investors. The commercial rights to the initial franchises were sold for PKR for a span of 10 years. During its opening ceremony, Twitter was not forgiving with their jokes about how ‘extravagant’ their version was as compared to IPL.
