Kejriwal To Field AAP Candidates To Contest All 13 Lok Sabha Seats In Punjab, Wants No Alliance
New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said that his party is ready to contest all the 13 Lok Sabha seats from Punjab and does not intend to enter in any alliance with other political parties there.
“We will fight on all Lok Sabha seats from the state, we will not enter into any tie-up with anyone,” Mr Kejriwal, who was in Bathinda in order to attend a party legislator’s wedding, told reporters.
He accused the ruling Congress government in the state and said that the party has failed on all fronts despite being in power.
“He (Amarinder) had promised to give a job in each family. He had said if anyone is unemployed then he will be given unemployment allowance, he had talked about raising social security pension, waiving debt of farmers, promised smartphones to youths. Only tall promises were made, but none have been fulfilled. He spoke lies and now people of Punjab are fed up with them,” he alleged.
Among those claims was the promise to wipe out drug issue from the state, but it was not solved, said Mr. Kejriwal.
He also said that the Congress government failed to take action on the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission’s inquiry report over the incidents of religions sacrilege in the state.
“Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report puts the Badals in the dock. Despite this, Capt Sahab is not taking any action against them. No FIR has been registered against them, because they are hand-in-glove.. People are finding viable alternative in the shape of the AAP,” he said.
Mr. Kejriwal was here to attend the wedding party of party MLA from Bathinda (rural) Rupinder Kaur Ruby.
Mr. Kejriwal was accompanied by his deputy, Manish Sisodia on his personal visit.
Among other party member present in the wedding were the leader of opposition in the Punjab Assembly Harpal Singh Cheema, Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann and party MLA Aman Arora.
Currently, the office of the Chief Minister in Punjab is held by Amrinder Singh of Congress party. There are a total of 22 districts in the state of Punjab. The legislative Assembly of Punjab consists of 117 members. And the capital of the state is the city of Chandigarh, which is in fact a Union Territory. The same city is also the capital of Haryana too.
