Kerala Government Allots 2 Seats on Every Course to The Transgender Community in Colleges
Higher Education Department of Kerala issued the notice. The notice states that two additional seats shall be allotted to the transgender student. Seats shall be allotted to students in all courses specially mentioned in the notice.
This Tuesday the order has been passed by the HED Kerala stating two additional seats for transgender students.
In India, Kerala is known for the highest literacy level. After taking this big decision for transgender students. Once again Kerala shows their side about education. Every individual has a right to study so why not the students belong to the transgender community.
MG Ranjith Kumar who is the Secretary issued this notice to the director of Collegiate Education. Along with this, the notice is circulated to registrars of all the universities.

The Indian government is pleased for such decision of allotting two seats in all courses in universities.
The Social Justice Department issued a particular order. The notice is to keep a proper check on the reserve seats for transgender students in college across whole Kerala.
Praveen Nath is one of the students who fail to get admission. Praveen Nath approached to the Social Justice Department last month. He said he applied for the B.A English course at Maharaja’s college. There is no legal issue in giving us seats. However, the fact is college is not willing for us to provide their expensive seats. After this, we decided to seek a meeting with Minister KK Shylaja. Now the Department issues the notice in favour of us.
Because of the societal issues, these students fail to carry on their studies. No one wants to study with these transgender students.
Queerala which is the community-based organisation for Malayali LGBTIQ people. Queerala sharded the news and said this was a step towards the betterment of transgender students. Now the students who fail to get admission in good colleges are now secure about their seats.
Maharaja’s college which is the best college in Kerala approached transgender students on merit basis.
