Mamata Patel, a 20-year-old disabled girl, who took her first year BA Exams by writing with her left foot. Mamata was born with only one arm, which is underdeveloped, she is the daughter of a farmer in a village located in Chhatarpurm Bundelkhand.
Recently, a picture was shared of Mamata taking her first year BA exams by using her left foot, despite her disability the 20-year-old girl sees possibilities and is continuously thriving hard to achieve her dream.
Mamata Patel, the daughter of Deshraj Patel, is currently studying in the Maharaja College.
Mamata is allowed to sit on any platform where she can easily use her left foot to write.
She said, “I took my disability as a challenge and insisted on going to school in Rajnagar tehsil of the district. Initially, I found it extremely difficult to write but gradually I picked up the pace. My writing speed gradually grew.”
The 20-year-old girl says she wants to work in a government-run facility and wants to stand on her own feet.
In 2018, Mamata Patel passed the national Class 12 Board Exams.
Deshraj, the father of Mamata, said, “Initially when she started going to school as a child, people would watch her with awe. My daughter was born with just one hand and that too was underdeveloped. We even wondered how she would survive, but she has proved us wrong”.
A professor in the Maharaja College, Sumati Prakash Jain said, “Mamta is a courageous girl and I found there is a strong desire in her to learn.”
Deshraj said that Mamata never wanted to become a burden to anyone, he added that she does ask help from her family members to do simple household tasks, but said that his 20-year-old daughter wants to become independent in the near future.
