Man Lives In Fear After His Identical Twin Was Sent To Prison For Being A Pedophile
42-year-old Owen Evans said that he is “constantly looking over his shoulder” and is serving a life sentence because he has been repeatedly mistaken as his identical twin brother who is a convicted paedophile.
Owen added that he feels like he is living with a life sentence after his identical twin’s crimes came into light and was convicted as a pedophile.
The 42-year-old promised that he will never speak to his brother ever again after he got to know the crimes he committed.
On Friday, his identical twin brother, Gavin, was sentenced to spend 4 years in prison by the Swansea Crown Court.
He was convicted of trading images of child abuse with other people on social media platforms.
Gavin also took part in “’highly sexualized online conversations” with teen girls and also had images of girls that were 4-years-old being sexually abused by other people.
Gavin Evans pleaded guilty to 11 counts of distributing, downloading, and possessing sexual images and inciting and attempting a child to engage in sexual activities, he was also pleaded guilty in possessing extreme pornographic videos.
Gavin was sentenced to 4 years in prison and will be required to sign the sex offenders register.
In an interview, Owen said that he and his family did not have any idea that his brother was a pedophile.
Owen added, “What he has done is shocking – I was mortified – he played down what he was arrested for. I knew he had been up to no good for something but I didn’t know the ins and outs of it. My older brother couldn’t believe it. What he has done is bad enough – but there’s the fact that he has lied to us about it. He’s got no worries for the next couple of years – we are the ones who will serve the time.”
Owen said, “I will have a lifetime of people calling me a pedophile – I am going to be constantly looking over my shoulder. My partner was accused of living with a paedo.”
Owen also said that the sentence given to his brother was not enough, he added, “I do not think he got long enough in prison – he will probably do less than four years.”
Owen is now trying to make sure that the people know he is not Gavin, he even posted a picture of him and his twin on Facebook and tried to point out that they are two different people.
He said, “If people are going to mistake me for him for the rest of my life. All I’m trying to do is get the story out there and [try to get] people to leave us alone.”
