Man Shares Picture Of His Leg On Siva Lingam On The Internet, Held By Police
Indians are very much religious and are emotionally connected to their religions. If their religious feelings are hurt they start riots all over the country and some people use this as an opportunity to destroy the peace among the citizens of the country. With the growth in social media, people are posting anything and everything online which is affecting the social peace in the community.
Recently a person posted a picture with one leg on Siva Lingam, which caused a huge uproar among the Hindu community in the country. This person was identified as Saddam Hussain (35) who was seen wearing chappals near the Lingam and also placed his one leg over the Lingam and posed for a picture and later uploaded it in the Social media.
The picture went viral immediately and people started slamming him for his immoral act which is hurting their religious sentiments.
A member of Hindu Mummani group lodged a complaint against Hussain for hurting their religious and sentiments in Mamallapuram station. Police started looking out for him, He surrendered to the police all by himself and was remanded in Chengelpet sub-jail. It is also being heard that the second person to stand beside Linga will also be taken into custody.
Though it is a constitutional right and every citizen has a freedom to express, Indian law restricts the freedom of expression when it comes to hate speech on religions, communities or any speech which might raise disharmony and enmity feelings between religions, caste or communities.
If any person uses freedom of speech to raise disharmony then his action will be treated as an offence and is liable to be punished under sections 153(A) and 295(A).
People who post this kind of unnecessary stuff on social media should understand the fact they are committing an offence which is punishable by Indian Penal Court.
