Minor Raped by 3 IPS Officers and Other Policemen for Last 3 Year: Madras HC Seeks Report

In Tamil Nadu, a 17-year-old girl was raped by three IPS officers and other policemen from past three years who was reportedly drugged, trafficked and sexually exploited. This is not the first time, she was harassed by her relatives before. The Madras High Court has sought a status report from the Tamil Nadu police on a PIL.

On Monday, the PIL who filed by the Lawyer said that “only the father and brother of the 17-year-old victim were sent to jail, although she had named several police officers in her complaint. The victim named her late grandfather, father, brother, friends of her father and brother, relatives, neighbours and several others in the area as accused”.

The Minor girl used to live with her grand parents as her mother died when she was 2 years old. However, there also she was allegedly sexually abused by her grandfather and some neighbours from 2008. Also, she is harassed and abused by her brother and allowed his friends to do for money.

She met her father for the first time after the completion of her 10th standard. After a fight with her father three years ago she went to the Sivaganga police station and there, the inspector of the local police station demanded sexual favours from her to resolve her differences with her father.

Although the complaint was given by a close relative of the victim in the first week of June at all women police station at Sivaganga. But, the victim later gave a statement in front of the magistrate that she has been sent to a state-run home.

She also said many examples s when she was reportedly sent to senior police officers in the Madurai hotel and another hotel. She also named two doctors, in Sivaganga and Vandiyur near Madurai, who allegedly carried out her abortions. Many who abused her allegedly shot videos of the act. After her complaint in June, PIL accused senior officer who destroyed evidence of CCTV footage.

PIL said that “the police registered a case only against her father and brother”. He also said that the police were protecting the real culprits and the officers who raped the girl are blocking the proper investigating in case”.

The high court ordered the Sivaganga police inspector to submit a report on 3rd November 2015.
