Modi, Sushma Swaraj, Kejriwal Loses tons of Twitter Followers in Just 24 Hours

After a step of ‘removing locked account’ has been taken by social media site Twitter, a number of followers have been falling down, on 12 July Twitter has announced a global crackdown on fake and automated accounts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official Twitter account which is the top most followed Twitter account in India has lost more than 2 Lakh followers within 24 Hours.
It was noticed that, on Thursday, there was the number of followers around 43.4 Million of PM Modi’s Twitter account but after removing locked accounts, number of followers dropped to 43.1 Million on 13 July.
Besides this, it has also been observed that The office of the Prime Minister of India’s Twitter handles also lost around 1 Lakh followers in the last 24 hours.

Apart from this, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj lost 74,132 followers on Social site Twitter and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal lost the major number of followers about 92,000 followers on Friday.

To curb the fake news circulating on its platform and
with a purpose to stop the fake news and misinformation on its platform, Twitter is becoming more vigilant.

 

 

 

Twitter said In its statement that over the years it has locked accounts after detecting some sudden changes in account behavior.

According to Twitter, this step has been taken in order to make users confident and inspire a healthy conversation on this platform.

Twitter further added the main motive of this action is to offer a “meaningful and accurate” view of users’ follower count.
