Reason Behind PM Modi In Reliance JIO Ad:

Modi is extremely close to the Ambani and Adani business families. Soon after assuming office he inaugurated the H N Reliance foundation hospital on 25 October 2014.

Ambani said “The Prime Minister has given a Digital India vision which I am personally inspired by. We are dedicating our service to the vision of India’s leader, to India and 1.2 billion Indians and there’s nothing political about this.”

The print advertisement also mentioned, “Jio is dedicated to realizing our Prime Minister’s Digital India vision for 1.2 billion Indians.”

Former Lok Sabha secretary general and law secretary to the government of India, TK Vishwanathan, told that there is nothing wrong legally in dedicating any service or product to the Prime Minister or any constitutional functionary.
“If any corporate house or a private citizen want to use the PM’s picture to dedicate a service or a product, at least legally, the industry has not committed any wrong,” he added.

The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) wrote a letter to PM’s Office stating that they are “not obliged to entertain interconnect requests” that are “anti-competitive”.

Sources have confirmed that you cannot use or reproduce the PM’s image in any shape or form in any advertisement even for Government Of India schemes, unless you have the mandatory written permission and the matter/contents of the purported advertisement has been cleared for publication or telecast by the PMO and the Director General, Press Information Bureau.
