Watch: Nana Patekar Asks Media “Not To Give THEM So Much Importance”

The ban on Pakistani artistes in India has become one of the major issues being debated after the Uri attacks, that left 18 of our military personnel dead, and the consequent surgical strike across the Line of Control by the Indian Army.

It seems Bollywood has clearly taken their different stands on the ban of Pakistani artists in India. While people like Salman Khan, Karan Johar and Sidharth Malhotra have stood in support of Pakistani artists, there are people who think differently.

A couple of days ago, Salman Khan lent his support to Pakistani actors by saying “actors are not terrorists”. Obviously, there was severe backlash from various political leaders. Raj Thackeray slammed Khan for his statement and asked him to take his father Salim Khan’s advice before speaking on such political issues. And now, Nana Patekar too has spoken about the matter.

Bollywood veteran Nana Patekar stepped forward to slam people talking in favour of artists from across the border. At an event, when a few journalists asked Nana about Salman’s comment on Pakistani artistes, he boldly slammed on his comments.

Making a comment on why it’s not the right time for the Pakistani artists to work in India, he said,

“This is not the right time for them to work in the country. Country comes first, then artists.”

When he was further asked to comment on how Bollywood is standing divided over the ban on Pakistani actors, he said,

“I was in Army and I have spent two and half years there. So I know who our biggest heroes are. No one can be a bigger hero than our Army men. Our original heroes are our jawans.”

Backing his opinion, Nana Patekar concluded by saying:

“First stands my country, I don’t know anyone beyond my country neither would I want to know. An artist is very small in front of the country.”
