As per the reports, Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam have been sentenced to jail for corruption, they may get arrested at Lahore Airport, on Friday evening.
However, Security has been tightened in Lahore and over 10,000 police officers had been posted at Lahore airport where prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam’ plane is scheduled to land from London.
As per the report, Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau is making plan to arrest former PM in mid-air, as the team of Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau is trying to leave for Abu Dhabi to board the flight which may be taken by the Sharifs, so they can be arrested as soon as the plane enters Pakistani airspace.
Former PM of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif said during his on-board flight to UAE’s Abu Dhabi airport, “I’ll be taken straight to jail. But I am doing this for people of Pakistan, sacrificing for generations to come. Such opportunity won’t come again. Let’s build the destiny of Pakistan together.”
On Friday morning, Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam landed at UAE’s Abu Dhabi International Airport.
However, it is supposed that, thousands of followers of Pakistani leader at the Lahore airport for the dramatic home-coming for Nawaz Sharif who has been three-times the prime minister wants to mobilize his party ahead of the July 25 general elections of Pakistan.
With regard to arrest former PM of Pakistan, an order has been issued to all television channels to stop live telecast of briefings of political leaders containing libelous and deprecatory content.
it is expected that the decision has been taken in order to make sure that Nawaz Sharif doesn’t turn public opinion in his favor for the upcoming General elections on 25th July, in Pakistan.
Media regulator has also banned live telecast of speeches by leaders against the judiciary, armed forces, which has been seen as an effort to black out Sharif when Sharif’s plan will land at Lahore airport in Pakistan on Friday evening.
As per the report, orders have been issued by Pakistan’s Punjab government to shut mobile networks in Lahore from 3 pm to 12 midnight today.
Though a Pakistan accountability court sentenced 68 years old Nawaz Sharif to 10 years in jail for corruption, that is linked to his family’s purchase of London flats.
Although, This is not the first case filed again him, however, the former prime minister of Pakistan also faces two more cases following Panama Paper scandal.
Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam has also been sentenced to seven years of prison. Before leaving for Pakistan from London, Maryam, said: “It is the most difficult decision of our lives because my mother is on the ventilator and we don’t know what happens next, there is no pain like that of leaving your mother behind in such situation but there’s a national duty and we must make this important journey.”
