NIA Adds Former Pakistani Diplomat Amir Zubair Siddique On ‘Wanted List’, Asks INTERPOL To Issue RCN Against Him
The National Investigative Agency has added former Pakistani diplomat Amir Zubair Siddique on its ‘wanted’ list after more than a month of filing a chargesheet against Amir zubair Siddique. The agency also released two photos of the former Pakistani visa officer and is also tring to make out information about him, reports said.
The NIA named Siddique as “Boss” and identified him as a Pakistani official who worked as a visa counselor in the High Commission of Pakistan in Colombo, Sri Lanka, according to the investigative agency.
Siddique has been charged with ‘waging a war against India and plotting to launch 26/11-type of attacks on US and Israeli consulates besides Indian Army and Indian Navy commands in South India in 2014. Along with him two other officers from Pakistan were also charged by the officals. The NIA came to know. The NIA through its investigations found that Siddique was engaged with people to indulge in espionage and terror activities in India. He did all these activities while based Sri Lanka. Siddique was declared as persona non-grata and was cited to be absconding.
A fourth Pakistani officer was also reportedly involved in the case. And now, the NIA is “preparing to send a request to Interpol seeking red corner notices (RCNs) against the Pakistani officers, who have reportedly been repatriated to Islamabad”.
The major fact was that the plot of the suspects, including that of Siddique’s, surfaced when one Thameem Ansari was arrested by the CID in 2012. According to the reports, the Thameem Ansari was arrested by the CID in 2012. He had planned to attack the US consulate in Chennai, the Israeli Consulate in Bengaluru and the Eastern Naval Command Head Quarter in Visakhapatnam and ports in India with the help of spies.
As per the reports, he had also sent several persons like Mohammed Zakir Hussain, Arun Selvaraj, and Sivabalan to India to arrange attack in India. Hussain was arrested by the CBI Court in 2013 on the charge of getting involved in spying activities. He after that had confessed that Siddique had assigned him to carry out attacks.
A news agency had earlier said earlier that “ISI agent Hussain, during the probe, also revealed that he used his counterparts Sivabalan, Mohammad Salim and Rafeeque to circulate fake currency in Tamil Nadu.”
