O Panneerselvam Breaks Silence At Jayalalithaa’s Memorial, Now Thinks To Take Back His Resignation

Post the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s death, the politics of the state were quite messed up. As per the wish of Jayalalithaa, O Panneerselvam took over the throne. However, it has been more than a month, surprisingly Panneerselvam resigned from his designation.

According to the sources, the majority of the MLAs and crucial party leaders then supported V K Sasikala to rope in her as the new Chief Minister. Quickly after Panneerselvam spilt beans at the Jayalalithaa’s memorial several ministers rushed to Poes Garden, some concerned about a split in the party. On the other hand, DMK party supremo M K Stalin urged the governor to ensure a valid government.

Panneerselvam walked into the Poes Garden around 9 PM then sat in meditation. 40 minutes after the meditation, he addressed the media that he’ll  “fight it out all alone to save the glory of the party“. Addition to this, he mentioned that his cabinet members R B Udhaya Kumar, Sellur K Raju, and party leader K A Sengottaiyan insulted him and demanded that Sasikala should be made CM.

“I was forced to convene a meeting of party MLAs on Sunday, but was kept in the dark that it was meant for electing Sasikala as the legislature party leader,” said Panneerselvam.

Despite this, he further said that the party leads threatened him when he questioned the reason behind hurrying.  “When I sought permission to visit Amma’s memorial, I was told that I could do it later,” he said.

Meanwhile, the senior ministers checked in at the venue and one of them even stated that they suspect the centre behind Panneerselvam’s resignation adding that the centre is behind these moves.

Panneerselvam concluded that he is the rightful heir of Jayalalithaa and she always wanted Panneerselvam to be the next Chief Minister, later he said that “let the people elect the true leader“.

Given that verdict in disproportionate assets case is expected in a week’s time, we suspect the Centre is behind the move,” said a senior minister.

Though there are many demanding Sasikala to wait till the Supreme Court verdict arrives, however, there’s nothing that can bar her way right now.

No wonder that M Natarajan, Sasikala’s husband, had recently accused the Modi government of making an attempt to destabilize the government and saffronize the state. This suspicion was further fuelled by Modi’s decision to meet only OPS and not the AIADMK MPs who sought his appointment over the Jallikattu ordinances,” said an MP.
