HEART BREAKING: Parents Find ‘Goodbye’ Note From Their 6-Year-Old Son After He Died Of Brain Infection

A six-year-old boy, Leland Shoemake who died from a rare brain infection left behind a heart-breaking note for his parents saying ‘Still with you’ telling them how much he loved them. The mother shared the “goodbye” letter her six-year-old son wrote to her before he died last week from a rare brain infection.

Leland Shoemake of Pike County, Georgia, fell ill one month ago was admitted to hospital in a critical condition two weeks ago. He was suffering from an infection caused by the amoeba Balamuthia mandrillaris which his mother suggested he may have contracted it while playing outside.Leland died on Friday at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta hospital in Egleston. His mother Amber and father Tim stayed by his bedside day and night until he passed away but when they returned home, they found something amazing.

They found a ‘goodbye’ note he had left them on the living room table. The boy’s mother, Amber Shoemake, shared a note on the Facebook page set up for her son -” Prayers for Leland.” It read: ‘Still with you… Thank you mom and dad… Love.’ He has also drawn a red heart with three words inside it: Mom, dad and love.

Amber wrote on Facebook:

Before his death, Leland’s family set up a “GoFundMe” page to help contribute to the medical costs. Mrs. Shoemake had posted the image of the intense treatment her son was forced to go through on the page.

This “GoFundMe” page for Leland’s medical costs and funeral has so far raised more than $10,000. They will now use the donations to pay for Leland’s funeral service, which was held on Monday.
