Latest Badminton Sensation PV Sindhu Grabs Silver Medal On Her Debut In Rio Olympics, Celebrates In Style
The dream of all the Indians came true. PV Sindhu made India proud by winning a medal at Rio Olympics 2016. In this league, she won over present world number 2 and former world number one player and also the silver medalist from previous Olympics. Pusarla Venkata Sindhu reached finals in her maiden Olympics. Though she lost in the finals, she won the hearts of many people with her play.

- In the preliminaries, she was placed in the group ‘M’. The other players in this group were Michelle Li of Canada and Laura Sarosi of Hungary whose ranks are 20 and 64 respectively. Whereas Sindhu is ranked 10
- In her maiden match, she delivered a nice debut and smashed Laura Sarosi. She won the game by 21-8 and 21-9.
- In her second match,she beat Michelle Li by 19-21, 21-15 and 21-17. She lost only one set.
- In the pre-quarters, she beat Chinese Tai Tzu Ying by 21-13 and 21-15. With the victory, she entered into Quarterfinals setting a record.
- She defeated Wang Yihan in quarters finals by 22-20 and 21-19.
- Finally, she entered into the finals by defeating Nozomi Okuhara of Japan by 21-10 and 21-13.
