Superstar Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya and her husband of six years, industrialist Ashwin Ramkumar, are ending their marriage. While there were fleeting rumours about an impending divorce, Soundarya took to Twitter to confirm the news.

Soundarya Rajinikanth,who directed her father in India’s first motion capture 3D Tamil film, Kochadaiiyaan, recently took to Twitter to reveal the truth about the divorce stories that are being circulated by maintaining that she is indeed separated from her husband Ashwin and that a divorce is on the cards.

Soundarya and Ashwin got married in 2010 and have a one-year-old son, Ved.

Earlier, reports suggested that the celebrity couple had filed for a divorce by mutual consent in the family court. However, now it is clear that their marriage is still within the realms of the family, giving a chance for the elders and well-wishers of the couple to make last-ditch efforts to save the wedlock.

Ashwin, meanwhile, has remained tight-lipped. He even refused to comment when asked by the media on the matter.

While there are no reports on what was the real deal-breaker, the buzz is that they have had a difference of opinion for a long time.

The news has come as an absolute shocker for millions of fans of Rajinikanth. The couple dated each other for about four years before getting hitched at a grand wedding ceremony in 2010 which was attended by high-profile people from the film industry, politics, and business.
