Rajkot Zoological Park: Gayatri The White Tigress Gives Birth To 3 Healthy Cubs

On Tuesday, a white tigress in the Rajkot Zoo gave birth to 3 healthy cubs. The zoo is currently managed by the Municipal Corporation of Rajkot.

Officials say that the white tiger breeding program has been successful at the Rajkot Zoological Park.

The Rajkot Zoological Park is spread over fifty-five hectares on the outskirts of Rajkot. The city is also considered as the commercial capital of Saurashtra.

Gayatri the white tigress mated with Diwaker a tiger earlier and gave birth to 3 healthy cubs.

Gayatri and Diwaker were brought to the Rajkot Zoological Park from the Chhattisgarh’s Bhilai Zoo in November 2014 under an exchange program.

A zoo official said, “We are closely monitoring the newly-born cubs and they are doing well. In May 2015, Gayatri the tigress had mated with tiger Diwakar and given birth to four cubs, all of whom survived. White tigers are one of the major attractions for visitors here.”

The Rajkot Zoological Park is currently the home of 9 white tigers which include 1 male, 5 females, and 3 healthy cubs.
