[WATCH] CCTV Footage Of AIADMK’s Sasikala Entering Jail In Civilian Clothes, Alleges D Roopa

It has been barely a month and Tamil Nadu’s daring lady cop DIG Roopa is transferred from her current place. And it is pretty clear she faced this fate for exposing the VIP treatment given to Sasikala. These shocking revelations regarding the former short-termed Chief Minister Sasikala have become sensational in the whole political fraternity.

On the same context, post the leak, DIG Roopa has come out in defense of her report. Days after DIG Prisons D Roopa exposed the VIP treatment given to AIADMK (Amma) chief and convict VK Sasikala in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, this video of Sasikala is going viral.

Once again, Sasikala is in the news for the same reason. Recently, a video of VK Sasikala, wearing a dark Kurta entering the jail in Bengaluru went viral on social media. She is serving four years for corruption on the orders of the Supreme Court.

The footage shows Ms. Sasikala carrying a bag and re-entering the main gate of the Bengaluru jail accompanied by male guards, impelling speculation about whether she had been allowed to leave the prison’s premises altogether. The video has now been handed over to the Anti-Corruption Bureau of the Karnataka police for further investigation.

The CCTV footage is raising questions whether Sasikala and Ilavarasi were allowed to walk out of the prison by officials. Whistleblower cop and former Deputy Inspector General of Police (Prisons) D Roopa had earlier alleged that top jail authorities were providing preferential treatment to Sasikala after taking a bribe of Rs 2 crore.

This is not for the first time that the claims of preferential treatment to Sasikala have been raised. Recently, in a reply to an RTI, it was revealed that Sasikala’s visitors were allowed to meet her even after 5 pm which is the deadline to meet a prisoner.

An official order said Deputy Inspector General Roopa “is transferred with immediate effect and posted until further orders” as the Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Traffic and Road Safety. Roopa now took the place of Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, A.S.N. Murthy, the order read.

Apart from DIG Roopa, the Karnataka government had also transferred four other senior officers including Director General of Prisons (DGP) Satyanarayana Rao who was accused of taking the bribe.
