Doctors said a few knives were opened up, a few were broken due to rust, while a few were lying closed inside the stomach.

“In my 20 years of practice, this is the most dreadful surgery I have ever seen or done,” said Dr. Jatinder, adding that the head constable was out of danger now.

After the surgery, Mr. Singh was absolutely healthy, he said.

He said the patient had told them that he always had an urge to eat knives and he ate them over a period of two months.

Mr. Singh had been facing psychiatric problems for the past one year.
