Shujaat Bukhari a rising journalist in Kashmir shot dead
Shujaat Bukhari, A prominent journalist from Kashmir who was known for his bold voice to the valley was shot dead outside his newspaper office and his personal security officer was also killed in this attack by the gunman. On Thursday evening when this incident took place he was leaving his Rising Kashmir office for an iftaar party at Press Enclave, police officers said. In this attack, one of the personal security officers who was guarding Shujaat Bukhari was killed and other policemen were also injured as well. The murder of Shujaat Bukhari is totally planned as per police chief SP Vaid statement, however, it was not specified that who was responsible for his death and police even released some CCTV footage related to Shujaat Bukhari’s murder that shows three criminals on a bike, and the one riding the bike was wearing a helmet
, and other two people on the bike were wearing masks to hide the original identity they can be seen carrying guns hidden in a sack.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke out on the murder of senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari that “ The killing of Rising Editor is an act of cowardice It is an attempt to silence the saner voices of Kashmir as he was a courageous and fearless journalist. Extremely shocked & pained at his death my thoughts and prayers are with his bereaved family”
Jammu Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti and Governor NN Vohra highly condemned to the death of a senior journalist. CM Mehbooba Mufti said through a message that in the killing of senior journalist she was shocked and saddened by Bukhari’s “sudden demise”, the chief minister also tweeted that “The scourge of terror has reared its ugly head on the eve of Eid. I strongly condemn this act of mindless violence & pray for his soul to rest in peace. My deepest condolences to his family,” and she also added in her statement that “we must unite against forces seeking to undermine our attempts to restore peace, Justice will be done’’ and Vohra condolences on the shocking killing of Shujaat Bukhari and he prayed for the peace of his departed soul and Vohra also prayed for his family to bear such an irreparable loss. Rising Editor Bukhari funeral took place in the maternal village in Baramulla and the huge crowd assembled beside it was raining heavily at his funeral for the internal peace of the soul
