Skype Introduces ‘Call Recording Feature’ For Devices Running Android, iOS And Mac OS
Microsoft has upgraded Skype by adding the feature of call recording in an attempt to make things difficult for Google Duo and Apple’s FaceTime. The new feature has been added as a part of the latest version of Skype and is available on all supported platforms except Windows 10. Windows 10 users will have to wait for some time to get the feature active in the OS to use call recording on their desktops and notebooks as Microsoft is all set to bring the cloud-based feature “in the coming months”. In April, the Redmond company has announced the addition of car recording feature in Skype through the ‘Content Creator’ mode on Windows 10 and Mac devices. Back in July, the Skype team revealed that Android and iOS devices will be able to have advanced functionality, although it did not do such until the fresh announcement.
“Today, we’re introducing call recording to help capture special moments in a Skype call with your loved ones or record important meetings with your colleagues,” the Skype team wrote in a blog post.
If you want to have this feature in you Mac-based desktop, you need to press the “+” sign and then chose the Start recording option. And for Android or iOS-based mobile devices, you can start the recording feature by tapping the “+” sign and then chose the Start recording button. Skype will display a banner on your screen to allow everyone is present in the video call to inform that you have begun recording the conversation.
You can use the recorded call in your chat within 30 days. More to that, everyone on the call will have the opportunity to be able to save the recording on their local machine. You also have the option to save the recording with your contacts during the period of 30 days.
If you want to save recorded Skype calls, you need to click the three-dots More options button presents in your chat and then chose ‘Save to Downloads option’. This will allow you to save all your recorded calls to the download folder locally. Apart from that, you can also choose the ‘Save as option on your desktop’ and then go to the folder to save the recording to your specific destination. And if you want the same thing to be done on mobile devices, you are required to press and hold the recorded call available in the chat and then tap ‘Save from the pop-up menu. The recording will automatically download to be saved in the device’s camera roll. Skype saves the recordings in MP4 format.
