Minister Smriti Irani Found CCTV Cameras In Trial Rooms of Fabindia Store Goa – FIR Filed

Union Education Minister Smriti Irani had gone to Goa, and during her stay in Goa she went for some purchases in shop name FabIndia in Candolim. Where she was trying on clothes at an outlet of a leading garment store that was pointed towards the trial room. Minister Smriti Irani informed to her husband Zubin Irani about this camera positioned to record inside the trailer room and he lodged an First Information Report (FIR).

Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, who belongs to Ms Irani’s party BJP, said in the evening that three people have been arrested in the case, which is now being investigated by the state crime branch.  Gaonkar said  that when he went through the hard disk and computer to check the recordings we saw everything. All things were getting recorded over there when anybody was changing clothes. From the level of stomach till above everything was getting recorded…This is mischief… Somebody has been watching the recording.

Police have sealed the shop and is inspecting the showroom. Minister Smriti Irani called MLA and he contacted the police, who registered a case of outraging a woman’s modesty. Ms Irani, has recorded a statement with the police said MLA. The CCTV camera was installed on a wall, against a foot-high ventilation gap on the side of the trial room cubicle and a case has been filed under section 354 C (voyeurism) and 509 (intrusion into privacy) of Indian Penal Code against employees who were monitoring the cameras. Umesh Gaonkar said We are analysing the entire data of the  CCTV camer.

Mr Lobo told to NDTV that the camera was positioned in a way that the lens pointed right into the changing room and was not easily visible. The Fabindia shop MD William Bissell told NDTV, We have security cameras in all stores…But the cameras are placed where shop-lifting can occur… But they are not inside the trial rooms. He also said that We are still investigating the case.
