Raslila (an act) is performed to recreate incidents from the life of Krishna and to commemorate his love for Radha which is mainly performed in Mathura and Vrindavan. While Dahi Handi is celebrated to mimic the stealing of butter by Krishna where teams of young men form human towers to reach a high-hanging pot of butter and break it. This tradition, also known as uriadi, is a major event in Tamil Nadu on Gokulashtami. On this day, schools and colleges celebrate the festival by arranging various competitions including Dahi Handi. At homes, a small cradle is placed with a miniature Krishna’s idol in it as a symbol of his birth. Also, on this day, Kids will be dressed up like Lord Krishna.
