To Counter TRS And BJP, Congress, TDP, CPI Form Alliance In Telangana, Push For President’s Rule For Fair Elections
Hyderabad: As the political atmosphere in Telangana is boiling due to the elections are expected to be held before the end of this year, the Congress, the Telugu Desam Party, and the CPI have formed an alliance in the state of Telangana. The chiefs of the three parties held a meet with the Governor this evening and demanded that the state is put under the President’s Rule until the elections results come out.
Chief Minister Mr. Rao wanted to hold early elections by the end of this year and for this reason, he dissolved the assembly last week. The move was taken nearly a year ahead of time. After the assembly was dissolved, Mr. Rao will remain the caretaker Chief Minister till the elections are announced.
“Fair and free elections not possible if KCR continues as the chief minister,” the party leaders said. “We will approach the Supreme Court against Telangana being forced into early elections”.
The Congress in the state has accused the Chief Minister of becoming a stooge of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has earlier said that the election cannot be held this year due to the reason that the revision of electoral rolls is going on.
However, the Election Commission stopped short from conducting roll revision to start the process of elections by the year-end. As per the rules, elections need to be held in a state within in the time period of six months of the assembly dissolution of the assembly.
The BJP announced that the party will go all alone in the election which made it clear that there is no secret understanding between the party and the Chief Minister.
According to the party leaders, Mr. Rao wanted to hold elections by the year-end to prevent any kind of possibility of losing his efforts to the BJP campaign focusing on Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of next year’s national elections.
Meanwhile, Telangana Rashtra Samithi remains an ally of its regional friend AIMIM. The AIMIM party chief has announced that the TRS is a friendly party.
AIMIM has got a stronghold in the city of Hyderabad with the party’s chief Asad Uddin Owaisi being the member of parliament. During the dissolvement of the Assembly, there were 7 lawmakers of the party. And the party aims to field 3 more candidates for assembly in a tacit understanding with the ruling TRS.
