TRS Agrees To Side With Opposition Over No-Confidence Motion Against The Centre

New Delhi: Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the ruling party of Telangana State, which was involved in the parliament protests that stalled the the no-confidence movement against the government, has taken side of the opposition. The lawmakers of Telangana Rashtra Samithi made it clear today that they have taken the decision to cooperate with the opposition in the current no-confidence notice given to the speaker by CPM yesterday. Party sources also said that while they want all the issues to be heard, they will never support the BJP party.

TRS lawmaker K Kavitha, tweeted: “The govt has been evading the no confidence motion. We will now sit silent in the Parliament & if there is a discussion in the Parliament, we will take part in the debate to highlight our issues.”

The opposition parties, who lacked the required numbers, have been trying to build pressure on the government by moving no-confidence motions. But all of their efforts have proven to be futile till now due to the repeated protests by the TRS and Tamil Nadu’s AIADMK.

Since last two weeks, a total of four no-confidence notices have been given. Two were issued by south parties, namely Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress and the other two were from the Congress party and the Left Party.

The TDP notice, which was expected to be taken up last week had to be cancelled due to the adjournment of Lok Sabha. The Speaker cited the reason that due to the disorder in the house, she cannot take the notice. The TDP blamed the parties of AIADMK and TRS and called the events going on in the house as “stage managed”.

The decision by the TRS comes amid Sharad Pawar, the chief of Nationalist Congress parties, hosting a dinner for all the leaders of the key opposition parties in Delhi tonight. Mr Pawar, seen as one of the key interlocuters for the opposition, is also trying to help make a common front against the BJP party in the next year’s assembly elections.

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who had a meeting earlier this month with her Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao, is also slated to attend the dinner party.

Ever since the Budget 2018, there has been a great turmoil in the functioning of county’s democracy. BJP was criticized heavily for not allocating proper funds for Andhra Pradesh as it was promised. Then immediately with in few days, the political atmosphere of the country changed with KCR and other parties calling for a completely different front which does not consists of BJP or Congress as allies. KCR called the front to be a non-BJP and non-Congress instead of calling it a ‘third front’.
