People say a lot about the Indian Education System. It is riddled with loopholes. We all know that from the time students start education until the time they complete it, the system puts a great pressure on their minds. There is no attempt on sprouting the brain of children, the only effort made is to dictate the things.

The other factor that makes our education system weak is an outdated syllabus, lack of teachers to improper infrastructure, limited connectivity between the industries and education. But what tops it all is the careless, ruthless and sometimes even average minded ministers ruling it.

Things become even more evident when officials pay a visit to check the status, however, one surprise our by Uttarakhand education minister went awry. The minister in the BJP-led state government Arvind Pandey recently paid a surprise visit to Dehradun’s Mahila Inter College.

Uttarakhand education minister Arvind Pandey’s arithmetic theory at the school recently turned the Mathematics and Chemistry upside down.  Pandey entered a class in which a female teacher was teaching science. Since the minister was in the college to inspect the quality of education in government-run schools, he thought of asking a question or two of the teacher.

Pandey who wanted inspect the quality of education, picked up chalk, walked up to the board, and wrote (-) + (-) = ‘?’. While teacher gave the correct answer, which was minus (-), the minister completely dismissed it. However, Pandey was least bothered by the correct response of the teacher. He sat in a chair, raised his finger, and endeavored to draw his point once again home.

According to Pandey, (-) + (-) = (+) in mathematics but (-) in Chemistry, a theory he thinks is correct. What’s surprising was, the whole scene is recorded and the video of him asking some ‘basic’ arithmetic questions to a teacher has gone viral.

Before leaving the classroom, he warned the teacher, “I am sparing you because you are a woman.” The minister, in his defense, said that he didn’t wish to “disrespect” any teacher.

Pandey said: “Neither the teacher nor the students were carrying any book. The teacher was teaching with the help of a “key”, a book with questions and their solutions.” Arvind Pandey also asserted that he didn’t have any affection for the minister’s post and was willing to resign if he was proven wrong.
