Watch: Horrifying Moment For Athelete, Hyper-Extended Elbow Injury In Rio Olympics

Just days after French gymnast Samir Ait Said broke his leg while vaulting during the Rio Olympics 2016, a fellow Olympian sustained an injury of his own. The 20-year-old Olympic debutant had crumbled under the sheer weight of the bar and can be heard screaming out in pain.

While competing in Wednesday’s 77kg weightlifting competition, Karapetyan suffered a pretty horrifying injury. His left elbow hyperextended during the clean and jerk move, dislocating his elbow. Watch the horrifying footage here.

Hyper-Extended Elbow Injury In Rio 2016:

His left elbow ‘snapped’ during the men’s 77kg weightlifting final. He was attempting to lift 195kg (429lbs) – the equivalent of two baby hippos.

He then walked away cradling his injured arm but was immediately rushed to hospital, with many fans in the Riocentro Pavilion unable to watch. Team bosses said he was undergoing treatment last night. Karapetyan qualified in the Olympics after dominating the 2016 European Weightlifting Championships, as well as claiming bronze at the 2016 World Championships
