Windows 10 October 2018 Update Patch Too Being Reported For Displaying Blue Screen Of Death Issues: Some Users
Microsoft has announced earlier this week that all known issues with the Windows 10 October 2018 have been made out and fixed completely. After the announcement was made, the company started re-rolling out the key update. But despite the fixing of Windows 10 update file deletion issue, there seems to be another problem being faced by Microsoft as of now. Some users have come up with complains of Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors after the installation of latest KB4464330 (Windows 10 1809 Build 17763.55) update on their desktops and laptops. But it is noteworthy for Windows 10 users that the problems mostly seem to affect HP users.
Soon after complaints started pouring regarding the issue of Windows 10 October 2018 Update wiping off user’s personal data, Microsoft sprung into action to fix the issue after stopping the availability of the update ( version 1809). It was only after the fixing of the issue that Microsoft released Windows 10 KB4464330 for October 2018 Update devices with fixes and improvements.
But despite all those efforts being put in by the company, still there seems to be a bug that had crept in causing BSOD error on many computers. As per the reports, the new patch for Windows 10 October 2018 is now the reason behind the BSOD on HP workstations and computers.
According to a post over the Microsoft forum, an HP EliteDesk 800 G3 machine did not boot after the installation of the cumulative update was done. Apart from that, another post on the forum done by a user, said that the patch has resulted in hitting several computers in their organization and is causing a Blue screen display. Some of the Twitter and Reddit users too have reported the issue through their accounts.
But the noteworthy point is that the users are reporting an error called ‘WDF_Violation’ that denotes the Windows Driver Framework. According to a comment posted on a BleepingComputer report, a user wrote, “KB4462919 BSODs all HP workstations we tested on so far. Can’t do system restore, recovery point, etc. Have to reimage. Don’t kick this out until it gets revised or you fully test. All BSOD shows Stop Code: WDF VIOLATION.” More interesting point is that one HP user has claimed on Microsoft forum post that deleting an HP driver called ‘HpqKbFiltr.sys’ helped in resolving the WDF Violation successfully. Another Twitter user too posted the same solution. As per the discussion over the issue, it is being suggested that KB4464330 conflicts occur with the HP keyboard driver file HpqKbFiltr.sys and renaming the file with HpqKbfiltr.sys.bak helped in fixing the issue.
