The mode of examination in NMTC ( National Mathematics Talent Contests) are two type preliminary or screening test and final test in which the institution of the students is the centre for the examination. The preliminary test will consist of the objective type question in multiple type question and fill in the blank.

Last year 1,41,393 candidates have participated in NMTC in which only 10% were selected for final exams. Last year the preliminary test result has declared on 5 September 2017 and final test result declared by the end of December 2018, but the answer key was released on the same day of the final test.

In the 2016 year, 35 girls from Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry of 9th to the 11th level were sponsored by the Association of mathematics teacher of India. The top three winners of the final test in each level are awarded by the cash prize as a 1st winner is awarded by 5000 rupees, the 2nd winner is awarded by 2500 rupees and the third one is awarded by 1250 rupees. For merit certification, only the selected students are eligible which is selected from the final test result and after that, they are awarded on the basis of the reasonable level of mathematical maturity. The promising toppers are also selected for enrichment contact courses.

The Association Of Mathematics Teacher Of India (AMTI) conducts the maths olympiad at regional, national and international level. The Examinations are RMO, INMO and IMO full name as Regional Mathematical Olympiad, Indian National Mathematical Olympiad and International Mathematical Olympiad respectively.
