Indian Tourist Gets Jailed In Australia For Having “Child Porn” His Phone

A 32-year-old Indian Man was jailed in Australia and got 2 months in jail by the Australian Court on Thursday, he was caught of having child port videos in his phone.

The 32-year-old man is Manpreet Singh, he will be deported to India after serving his 2 months prison time.

Manpreet Singh was travelling to Perth, after the immigration did a baggage search was done, they found nine videos that included offensive content and child porn in his 2 smartphones.

Manpreet Singh was taken into custody right away, he also got his tourist visa canceled. In an interview, he told the police that he knew child pornography was not allowed in India and Australia but he did not know that having possession of those videos would get him in trouble.

Manpreet Singh was pleaded guilty in the Magistrates Court in Perth, he was sentenced on Thursday.

It is believed that Manpreet Singh had more videos in his smartphones but deleted them before reaching Australia.

The Magistrate Court said that these types of cases are really serious, they also took a look into the history of Manpreet Singh and found out that he had a clean record before.

Manpreet Singh was fined $500 AUD and got sentenced to 7-months inside the prison, but the court says he only has to serve 2 months behind the bars.

For the 5-months remaining, he will be subjected to $1000 as a good behavior recognizance, he is likely to serve and spend time in immigration detention before coming back to India.
