Jökulsárlón Lagoon: Grandma Drifts Off To Sea On A Iceberg After Posing For A Picture

A grandma who was posing for a picture on a giant piece of thrown shaped ice almost left her stranded at the sea as it drifted away.

Judith Streng the Grandma is originally from Texas who was visiting the Jökulsárlón Lagoon, which is located in Iceland, she was traveling with Rod Streng, her son, she saw an ice block that was shaped like a throne and decided to take a picture with it.

She did what everyone would have done if they saw a throne-like ice block, without hesitating she jumped on the ice block and asked Rod to capture pictures of her which they may call the perfect holiday snap.

Judith Streng said that “It was shaped like an easy place to sit. You can tell by looking at the shape of it, and I thought, ‘Well it looks like fun”

Judith and Rod did not expect the ice block to drift away, but it did after a giant wave hit it and dislodged it just a couple of seconds after smiling at the camera for the picture, the next thing she knew was finding herself getting drifted off to the sea while sitting at the ice block.

Judith explained the incident and said “When I got on it, it started to totter and a wave was coming in. A very large wave came in and made the throne rock, and I could tell that I was slipping off, I thought it was safe. One girl had been on it and then two girls at the same time, and it was very secure with them. But I don’t weigh very much, so it was a little easier to float off with me, I guess.”

Luckily, Randy Lacount, a boat captain saw the incident and was nearby when the ice block drifted off, he brought back Judith Streng to the shore before anything wrong happened.

Judith and Rod saw the funny side of the incident after they sent the pictures to Catherine, the 24-year-old daughter of Rod, she decided to share the pictures on Twitter, which went viral!

Judith left good impressions of her on Twitter, and many compared her to Elsa, a queen from the Frozen franchise. One user of twitter said “Frozen 3 looks great” and another one said “Elsa in 60 years.”

The best thing about the incident was when Judith said: “You know I always wanted to be queen, I mean, come on, that was my chance.”

Judith is definitely the new ice queen and a strong contender for the best grandma of the year award!!
