Jammu Attack: Sources Say Class 9 Student Hid The Grenade Inside His Lunchbox
The accused person behind the Srinagar attack is a Class 9 student, sources say that he hid the grenade inside his lunchbox before throwing it at a bus stand in Jammu on Thursday. 32 people were injured in the attack and 2 people died.
The Jammu police had some intelligence inputs about a potential attack in the city, the input helped them track down the Class 9 student who is 13-years-old, he was arrested within 1 hour after the bus stand attack.
The 13-year-old student was from Kulgam, South Kashmir, he was arrested in a checkpoint at Nagrota, which is 20 kilometers away from Jammu. He was returning to his home after throwing the grenade at the bus stand.
Sources said that the student trained himself on how to throw grenades by watching videos on YouTube.
The 2 people who passed away in the attack were from Anantnag and Uttarakhand. A third person passed away in the hospital yesterday.
The Jammu police did receive intelligence inputs on Wednesday about a possible attack in a crowded place in Jammu, all police forces were alerted after receiving the input.
The police said, “We are investigating who transported him up to Jammu since the teen had never visited the region before.”
The 13-year-old Class 9 student came to Jammu by using a private car, the police are also trying to find the person who drove the car. They traveled from Kulgam on Wednesday and arrived in Jammu on Thursday.
A lot of questions are being raised about how the class 9 student traveled around 250 kilometers without being detected and also against the traffic flow on the National Highway of Srinagar to Jammu, which was only open for one-way traffic on the day they were traveling.
MK Sinha, Jammu Inspector General said that Hizbul Mujahideen is the person behind the attack, Farooq Ahmad Bhat, the Hizbul Kulgam Chief assigned the class 9 student to carry out the attack. The police added that the bomb attack was aimed at creating a polarization in the region of Jammu.
