On March 21, Dennis Hegstad shared a video of a “Flying Item On Fire” over Los Angeles California and asked Twitter users about it.

The video got more than 16000 retweets and 48000 likes, most of the people who shared the video were baffled about the video.

What many thought was a meteor turned out to be a stunt that was performed by Red Bull. The company was celebrating the supermoon on March 21 which was the last one for 2019 that marked the start of the spring season.

For the stunt, skydivers wore wingsuits that were fitted with LED lights and what Red Bull called “Sparking Pyrotechnic”, they were dropped from a helicopter which was 4000 feet above Los Angeles and whizzed through the sky at nearly 120 miles per hour.

Red Bull released a statement and said, “Wearing wingsuits that shape the human body into an airfoil, they leapt from a helicopter 4,000 feet above LA and swooped into downtown at more than 120 mph. To add a touch of Hollywood glitz, the suits were fitted with LED lights and sparking pyrotechnics that lit up the night sky as the sun set and the supermoon rose.”

The company added, “Travelling three feet forward for every one foot down, their southwestern one-mile flight took them past the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown hotel – which at 1,100 feet – is the tallest building west of Chicago. They finally pulled their parachutes at 1,000 feet and landed safely on the city streets below in the first ever wingsuit jump into downtown Los Angeles.”

Mike Swanson, Andy Farrington, and Jon Devore were the three skydivers for the stunt. If you combine the number of skydives that were done by the 3 men, you will get more than 70,000. For the stunt, the 3 jumped twice.

The LAPD explained the happening on Twitter, they said, “PSA: A meteor did not crash into Downtown Los Angeles, and no, it’s not an alien invasion… just a film shoot.”
