Indian Men Assault A 48-Year-Old Muslim Man And Forced Him To Eat Pork

Trending: A Muslim man was assaulted by a group of men and was forced to eat pork, the group of men was angry after they got to know that the man was selling beef.

Eating pork in Islam is forbidden. In the case of pork, no specific reason for the prohibition is given, except in Quran 6: 145 when God says, in reference to the flesh of swine, “for that surely is impure”.

Rakesh Raushan the Superintendent of Police said, on Sunday, 48-year-old Shaukat Ali was assaulted by a group of men at the Madhupur Weekly Market in Biswanath District, Ali was rushed to the hospital after the locals left the area.

A video of the incident went viral after it was shared on various social media platforms, the video showed Ali surrounded by angry men who repeatedly asked him where we was from and if his name was registered in the National Register of Citizens.

Officer Rakesh Raushan said that Ali was beaten up by a group of men who are not aligned to any organization or political party.

Shaukat Ali said that he was forced to eat pork by the group of men, the 48-year-old man owns a food stall in the area.

SP Rakesh Raushan said, “We have also heard about that. It is a matter of investigation. It is only after that has been done that I will be able to tell.”

The police have arrested one man who is connected with the incident, the SP said that he is being questioned about the incident.

Shaukat Ali said that he had been selling beef at the Madhupur Weekly Market for over 3 decades and has never faced a situation like this before.

The group of men also beat up 42-year-old Kamal Thapa for allowing Shaukat Ali to sell dishes that contains beef, Kamal is the contractor of Madhupur Weekly Market.

Consumption of beef and cow slaughter is not banned in Assam, but the Cattle Preservation Act of 1950 in Assam allows the slaughter of cattle if it is above 14 years after it gets a certificate from a veterinary officer.

Last year, one man was killed and 3 attained life-threatening injuries after villagers suspected them to be cattle thieves in the district of Biswanath.

The incident of Shaukat Ali was reported to the police after a video of the incident went viral, it is reported that one of the men shared it on social media.

A case was registered at the Biswanath Chariali Police Station on Monday Evening, the police said that the complaint was lodged by Sahabuddin Ali, the brother of Shaukat Ali.

SP Rakesh Raushan added that raids will be done to arrest the other men who were involved in the incident.

Activists will hold protests in Guhawati today.

Biswanath is part of the Tezpur Lok Sabha Constituency, the district will hit the first phase of the general elections on 11 April 2019.
