Haryana’s sensation ‘Gurmeet Ram Rahim’ arrest has alarmed the whole North-Indian states from a couple of days, the crowd unleashed a spree of violence soon after the Panchkula’s court verdict went against this self-claimed Godman-Baba.

With Internet connections and railway facilities aborted, the whole states were in chaos. However, with the inclusion of more than 48 groups of CRPF soldiers, the situation is now somehow under control. Thus, parts of Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh have been under a security lockdown as 200,000 supporters of Ram Rahim had assembled in Panchkula.

After 200 hearings spread over 10 years and numerous stay orders of higher courts, a CBI special trial court in Panchkula convicted. Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was also found guilty in the rape case, murder and forced castrations by a special CBI court.

Dera head to spend 20 years behind bars, as the 10 years sentence for raping two Sadhvis to run consecutively, not concurrently. Self-styled spiritual guru Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the rape of two women followers.

The 50-year-old chief of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect said, “Mujhe Maaf Karo (forgive me),” and wept as he was sentenced to a jail in Haryana’s Rohtak by Judge Jagdeep Singh. Fifty-year-old Ram Rahim has been found guilty under section 376 (rape), 506 (intimidation) and 509 (wrongful confinement of woman) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

But a group of people is not yet satisfied with the sentence Gurmeet received. People in ashes and holding tridents, damrus and kamandals in their hands, a group of sadhus demanded to hang of rape convict Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

The sadhus were seen holding placards and shouting slogans against Ram Rahim at Rajendra Prasad and said he should be awarded capital punishment for his misdeeds. A sadhu Dhuni Baba said Ram Rahim had the lust for money and power and lived a luxurious life.

“A true Sadhu gives up all worldly pleasures and luxuries and leads a simple life,” he said. “Ram Rahim should be given strict punishment and should be hanged,” he demanded. Soon after the verdict, his followers ran riot and clashed with security forces, leaving 38 people dead and 250 injured.
