Indian national congress senior leader and general secretary Digvijaya Singh confirms that he is married to the well-known TV anchor Amrita Rai in Chennai late last month. Digvijay Singh who had been a controversial leader of congress party was slammed by fellow counterparts and social networking users after he accepted his relationship with long-time girlfriend and Rajya Sabha TV anchor Amrita Rai after their private photos were exposed online.

Sources close to both Amrita Rai and Digvijay Sigh claimed that the duo tied nuptial knots with each other in a private ceremony in Chennai last month. Digvijay Singh on being asked about the wedding said “Yes we are married, as I am in the United States on a tour would make an official public announcement in this regard as soon as I fly back to home.”

The 68 years old former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh’s girlfriend Amrita Rai’s Facebook post bear witness to this speculation of his marriage with her. Though she made an official post on social networking website Facebook, she was not available for comments when her office Rajya Sabha TV was contacted who claimed that she was on holiday.

Amrita Rai claimed mentions “I have married Digvijaya Singh for love. Therefore, I have already requested him to transfer all his property and belongings to his son and daughters. I only want to embark on this new journey with him, working towards a dignified, professional career” through her Facebook page.
