Whatsapp users are being warned to be alert after reports of a scam offering you to upgrade to a premium ‘Gold’ version. This upgrade invitation says that ‘it is used by celebrities and here is a chance to become one of them.’
People are being sent a link offering to install a new version of the WhatsApp, but don’t be fooled. If you click ‘Upgrade’, it leads to malware which could infect your phone allowing hackers to access your data and details. However, WhatsApp Gold doesn’t exist and it is said to be a fake service.
Several Whatsapp users have reported receiving the exclusive invite. The invite also shows you the extended features like sending more than 100 pictures in one go, deleting messages sent by mistake and Video Calls. But it is not true and most likely a scam. The link within the message takes users to a website ‘www.goldenversion.com’, which is currently showing an ‘error 404’ message.

Earlier, the WhatsApp Plus app, which not authorised by the company and claimed that it will let users send pictures, videos and music files of an unlimited size. So be careful of such fake messages and delete immediately when you receive them. Please forward this information to your friends.
