Olympian Anju Bobby George Accuses Kerala Sports Minister EP Jayarajan Of Abusing And Threatening Her
Former Indian athlete Anju Bobby George on Thursday alleged that Kerala Sports minister EP Jayarajan had threatened and accused her and other members of the Kerala Sports Council on charges that she had “misused” funds. Anju, who is now the president of Kerala Sports Council, submitted a complaint to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan against EP Jayarajan.
Anju, asserting that the minister, who assumed office only two weeks back after the Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) return to the helm of the state government, has threatened her and several other members of the Council when they recently came together for their first customary meet with him, she added that Jayarajan accused the Council members of being supporters of the opposition party and allegedly threatened them of dire consequences since the LDF had come to power.
She further said that the minister had dismissed all recent transfer orders issued by the Sports Council, and when Anju had brought up the matter saying that such a sudden cancellation would affect many lives and careers, he threatened her again. As per a News Minute Report, Anju said that the sports minister does not have even minimum knowledge of sports.
This is the second controversy that Jayarajan finds himself in the last week. He had earlier made headlines after his infamous declaration that boxing legend Muhammad Ali, who died from septic shock at the age of 74 on Saturday, was a great loss for Kerala, as he had won many medals for the state.
