Over 170 Firefighters Battled The Blaze For 4 Hours At Delhi’s National History Museum

170 firefighters worked for four hours to stop the fire from the massive building, The National Museum of Natural History. At around 1.45 AM the fire broke out on the top floor of FICCI building in Delhi`s Mandi House area. At first, only eight fire engines had come and then as the fire is not controlled about 170 fire engines are brought.

This operation turned critical when some officials are stuck up in the fire at the fourth floor of the building. They are Assistant Divisional Officer, a station officer, and a sub-officer. While this action is being taken up the fire is spreading to the third floor also.

“In such scenarios, firefighters have to brave extreme heat and temperature that may exceed 800 degrees Celsius and can even touch 1000 degrees Celsius. They are dressed in proper uniform and equipped with techniques to meet the challenges. However, it never stops being a difficult task,” Mr. Garg said.

“The fire, that originated from the fifth floor, had spread till the fourth. The aim was to do damage control there. What the officers could not assess well was the rate at which the flame was spreading,” Mr. Sharma said.

There were some signal given by the officials with flashlights and managed to make SOS call with wireless then a rescue operation is followed immediately. They were then taken to hospital for further assistance and discharged by evening, said Mr. Sharma.
