After Subramaniam Swamy linked Sonia Gandhi, the situation is out of hands between Congress and BJP in the Agusta Westland Chopper deal. Also, this is the first time he spoke in Rajya Sabha after being nominated. Without even completing his statement the members rushed into the well of the upper house with the loud slogans against Swamy and the Government.

Swamy’s statement comes in the backdrop of an observation made by the Italian Court of Appeals in the case which has generated heavy political fire in the country.

5 highlights of the court order:

1. The court observed the unmistakable indications regarding the corruption of an Indian Officer, identified as Tyagi Brothers cousin – pointing at Air Chief Marshal S P Tyagi, the then Chief of Air Staff who reduced height of Agusta Westland Choppers. In the 225 page of Judgement, the former IAF chief name is figured by Italian Court.
2. It is estimated as 30 Euro million worth of deal is being proposed for distribution of money among the decision makers in India according to the annexures and submissions are given at the time of Judgment. In which it included Politician, bureaucrats and Air Force officials and some others.
3. It takes many conversations between middlemen, Carlos Gerosa, Christian Michel and Guildo Haschke which is earlier reported by The Indian Express. Here Mrs. Gandhi is seen as “driving force” and Ahmed Patel and Pranab Mukherjee her closest advisers are “the aim of the British high Commissioner” regarding the VVIP Chopper race.
4. With the Note as “Budget expenditure items” says that the amount the middlemen and others for distribution among Indian decision makers. There also some shortcuts mentioned in the note as “AF” mentioned elsewhere in the document as Air Force, “Bur” for bureaucrats and “Pol” for politicians which are listed in initial AP which is mentioned in the judgement as it corresponds to Ahmed Patel. and Family which referred to Tyagi Family.
5. There is a special chopper deal in between middleman Christian Michel, a fugitive, to peter Hulet and then India region sales and liaison regarding the chopper deal on March 15, 2008, which reads, “Dear Peter, since Mrs. Gandhi is the driving force behind the VIP, she will no longer fly with MI8 … Mrs. Gandhi and her closest advisers are the aims of the High Commissioner, senior advisor Prime Minister Manmohan Singh obviously the main figure, then there’s Ahmed Patel Secretary “.
