BHEL Commissions 600 MW Thermal Power Plant In Madhya Pradesh
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) on Tuesday has successfully commissioned a 600 MW coal-based thermal power plant in Seoni district in Madhya Pradesh. The unit has been commissioned and is being developed at the 1×600 MW Jhabua Thermal Power Project (TPP), a subsidiary of Avantha Power & Infrastructure Limited (APIL).
This is the second project of APIL commissioned by BHEL after the 1×600 MW Avantha Bhandar TPP at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh. BHEL’s scope of work in the contract’s anticipated design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of Steam Turbine, Generator, and Boiler, along with associated Auxiliaries and Electricals is set perfectly.
BHEL-built 600 MW comprises a 4 cylinder turbine, which is designed in-house, amply demonstrating the engineering prowess of BHEL. Till now, the company has contracted 21 sets of 600 MW each in which 16 have already been commissioned. BHEL is presently executing two supercritical units of 800 MW for NTPC at Gadarwara.
The equipment for the project was supplied by manufacturing units of BHEL located at Trichy, Ranipet, Hyderabad, Bengaluru & Haridwar while the construction work was carried out by BHEL’s Power Sector – Western Region.
BHEL has established its engineering prowess by successfully delivering higher-rated units such as 600 MW, 660 MW, 700 MW and 800 MW thermal sets, having a high degree of indigenization.
