Teaching Computers To Learn Human Languages

A set of algorithms is being developed by the researchers that could help the computers to process and understand human languages better. Computers are still feeling hard to understand the natural languages speak by humans.

To understand the languages humans opt a different way to refer dictionary and find out the meanings of words they don`t understand and put them all together to understand the sentence. Humans also expect the same from the computer also to understand they way they do.

A computer cannot analyze the word and understand it according to the algorithms look up the words in a dictionary. A semantic representation will be given by computer for a word that is both consistent with the dictionary in which the context appears in the text.

“If we can represent the meaning of a word in a way a computer could understand, then the computer will be able to read texts on behalf of humans and perform potentially useful tasks such as translating a text written in a foreign language, summarising a lengthy article, or find similar other documents from the internet,” Bollegala noted.

“We are excitingly waiting to see the immense possibilities that will be brought about when such accurate semantic representations are used in various language processing tasks by the computers.”
