A Chennai girl participated in UN Poster for Peace Contest and won third place. She is now other than Anjali Chandrashekar aged 22 praised by the UN secretary general and her work is also shared by Michael Douglas on Facebook.

At UN head quarters in New York Anjali received the award on May 3. Judges selected two of her works and appreciated her. ‘Cutting Barriers through Peace’ is the poster of her displayed in UN Poster Contest also here ‘Break Free’ won an honourable mention in the ceremony.

“It was such an honour to be part of the 2016 campaign for nuclear disarmament. Releasing the posters with the Secretary-General was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I will cherish forever,” said Anjali.

It took her three months to design and doing several experiments the finally came to the contest with 2 posters said the young artist. Two posters were selected by officials among three of her posters. ‘Spinning Peace’ is a poster for the first award winner, Ivan Ciro Palomino aged 38 from Lima, ‘Peace in our Hands’ is the second poster won by Michelle Li just 15 years old.

This competition of UN initiative to raise awareness about disarmament among young people for their excellent talent in their artistic skills.
