Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian Awards of the country, are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. Eminent personalities from the fields of public service, sports and entertainment will be awarded the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards. The awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year.

President Pranab Mukherjee approved conferment of Padma Awards to 112 people this year. The list comprises 10 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan and 83 Padma Shri awardees. While 56 eminent personalities received the Padma awards at the civil investiture ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday (March 28), the rest of the awardees, including actors Rajinikanth, Priyanka Chopra and tennis player Sania Mirza, will be given the honour at a separate function to be held next month.

The President on Monday presented five Padma Vibhushan, eight Padma Bhushan and 43 Padma Shri awards at the function. Here is the list of recipients:
