Hyderabad: In a bizarre case, a voter slip of Hyderabad voter containing the picture of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan during Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls held on Tuesday created a stir.

A voter in the Hyderabad civic polls turned up with an officially issued identity card carrying the name and picture of Salman Khan. The staff at a polling centre was taken aback when the voter showed an identity card with Salman Khan’s name and picture to cast his vote in the GHMC elections. Officials at the polling booth in Gowlipura in Charminar division did not allow the person to vote.

The voter slip had the name of the elector as Salman Khan and a picture of the 50-year-old actor. The voter slip also mentioned father’s name as Saleem Khan. However, in the age column it was mentioned as 64.

Krishna Sekhar, deputy Commissioner of GHMC, said that he would inquire into it. People said the incident was another proof of the manner in which election authorities issue voter identity cards.

On February 2, the city voted for much awaited Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections. After formation of Telangana state, this is the first time that GHMC elections were held.
