Team India at last managed to defeat South Africa on the fifth day of the Test match. Hashim Amla and AB De Villiers marathon innings tested the patience of Indian bowlers for almost a day. Indian spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin was fantastic throughout the Series. He again took a five-wicket haul in the second innings of South Africa. Totally, Ashwin took 31 wickets in this series against South Africa.

Playing his 12th test series, Ashwin was elected for the Man of the Series award for the fifth time. But in a conversation with Sanjay Manjrekar, Ashwin corrected him while talking in the presentation ceremony. Manjrekar suggested that Ashwin had won four Man of the Series awards, and had one more to win before matching up to the India record, Ashwin corrected him informing that he already had scaled the record and it was his fifth MOS award.

Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag have won five Man of the Series awards but in 74 and 38 series respectively. Appreciating Ashwin, he broke the record in just 12 series. When Manjrekar asked about Jadeja’s support, Ashwin had praised him saying that “There was a massive support from Jadeja, he hits the stumps so often.” He also praised the rest of Indian bowlers.

At the end of the conversation, Manjrekar pointed out Jadeja for the Man of the Series award, who took 23 wickets in the series. In the last 6 Test series that India have won, Ashwin has been the Man of the Series 5 times which proves how he loves the game. Ashwin also dedicated his Man of the Series award to the people affected by the Chennai floods.
