At about 30,000 feet mid-flight, a Taiwanese woman gave birth to a premature baby girl after going into the labour on a long distance flight to Los Angeles. The flight was on its way to Los Angeles which took off from Taiwan and almost a 30 minutes due to land at its destination. The Chinese Airlines (CAL) staff was reported by the Taiwanese woman that her waters had broken around six hours into the flight and gave birth to a baby girl thirty minutes before the captain was able to land the flight at the destination, Los Angeles International Airport.

As luck would have it flight crew found and a doctor who was on board stepped forward to assist the woman through delivery. Almost about 30 minutes before the pilot was able to make an emergency landing in Anchorage the Taiwanese woman gave birth to a baby girl. CAL added both the baby and mother are in good health, and the plane was able to continue to Los Angeles after a three-hour delay.

The nationality of the born baby girl has yet to be affirmed who took birth in U.S. airspace but on board a Chinese aircraft which brings in the complication. One passenger was able to capture the moments just after the birth on camera. They reported that border control agents boarded the plane when it landed, possibly due to concerns that expectant foreign mothers would purposely try to give birth in the United States so that their babies would be granted citizenship.
