Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada Assassinated in Suicide Attack
A powerful explosion on Sunday destroyed Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada’s office in Pakistan’s Attock city, leaving him and seven others dead. In this explosion Punjab province Home Minister Shuja Khanzada was assassinated along with eight others when a suicide bomber blew himself up at his house in Shadi Khal village in Attock district.
Commissioner Rawalpindi region Zahid Saeed said.”Eight persons have been killed and several others injured after the bomber hit the minister’s house,”.
Reports later confirmed that Khanzada succumbed to his injuries in what was termed as a suicide attack. The impact of the blast shattered windows in nearby houses. They also said that Seeral media reports said that the minister died in the blast that also shattered windows of the neighbouring houses.
“The hall of the building where the meeting was underway collapsed in the blast and over three-dozen people including the minister were trapped in the rubble,” Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah told reporters
He also added that the rescue operation has been underway delicately to save as many persons as possible. And the war against terrorism would continue till the elimination of the last terrorist.
Rescue work is going on to retrieve the people trapped under the building which collapsed due to the bombing.
On the whole Twelve people were killed and 25 others injured by the blast, Radio Pakistan reported. A senior police official was among the dead. More than 20 people were buried under the rubble, news channels reported.
Prime Minister Sharif and interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan condemned the terrorist attack. Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan told federal and provincial authorities to carry out immediate rescue activities.
